I’ve racked my brain with how to help IT Professionals do better in their careers and lives since I started
ITCrowd almost 4 years ago as a lowly Systems Administrator at a ~300 Employee Business. I was where you are now, perhaps always feeling passed up for a coveted promotion, feeling overworked because of how most companies treat their IT Department, with Disdain and Confusion over our work, day to day. We run, maintain, repair and upgrade the world’s Digital Systems, we deserve all the praise the top salesman of the company gets when they reach their quotas, and we deserve the same salaries as the Developers who come to us when their programs break because they don’t understand their hardware stack well enough.
Then the
Boss comes in, saying:
“This isn’t working, what am I even paying you for?”
Then later once you've fixed everything...
“This always works, so what am I even paying you for?”
That pain point is very real for us.
So how could I help alleviate that pain point of feeling underappreciated? How could I best support my peers and help them where their only Business Minded Managers normally could not? What would it take to get my colleagues to take action and be part of a community that would not only benefit them, but help them see how benefiting others is the Key to Success in their own lives.
The only answer I came up with is to provide enough value and inspiration by doing exactly that and helping my colleagues out as much as possible in whatever problems they are having throughout the day. That is what our Community is about. Helping and connecting others like us.
So, in light of that, we’ve re-launched our new ITCrowd Online Community. I don’t want anyone to NOT be a part of a Tribe that understands what they are going through, everyone deserves that type of support.
